Currently a seminar on Child Safeguarding and Corruption issues is taking place at Rosa Mystica Retreat Centre in Nairobi.

Issue of corruption is a crucial topic and we have to support the bishops in their effort to curb it especially in the Church. We are their soldiers.

Don Bosco Gumbo, Juba, South Sudan

The BEAMS team was very well welcomed by the Salesians and FMA of Gumbo. The Liaison office was kind enough to give us a lift to this destination. The Salesian Sisters Hosted Beatrice and the rest of the team, Men, were hosted by SDB

We want to really appreciate the good work being done by both SDB and FMA. The SDBs are running a Parish, Primary School, Secondary School, Technical Institute and Daily Oratory. The FMAs are running a Nursery school, a Primary School and a Woman Promotion Centre. Importance to note is the impact the Women Promotion Centre is having in the life of women. They have been empowered to become entrepreneurs and to feed their families. Most of these women do not have any formal education and so this kind of empowerment gives them hope in a society where women are regarded as of less value and early marriages are rampant. Sisters are running three departments:
1. Agriculture
2. Tailoring and Dress making
3. Catering
4. Literacy classes
Sisters have also formed Cooperative Society to empower women in selling their products and finding market. This also encourages initiative on the part of women.

Last Supper in Yambio

We are very grateful to the Bishop and the Diocese of Tombura-Yambio for the warm reception that they gave us. It was a very wonderful experience and we can truly say that we learnt a lot from the Diocese and its people. This night the Diocesan Liaison office of Juba prepared for us a very wonderful meal in a restaurant as a sign of appreciation.

Beautiful Zande land, Western Equatoria, South Sudan

The Western Equatoria region of South Sudan is inhabited by the Azande who are mainly peasant farmers. They occupy the most green and fertile and green land in South Sudan. Their food is organic and there is no reason why anybody in this region should suffer of hunger. The civil war that has broken up for a number of years has disrupted and hindered development in this region. Relative peace for the last five five years has brought in a ray of home that this land will prosper.
